- Size: approx.9 in L, 8 in. H, 5 in. dia. (23 x 20 x 12.5 cm.)
- Provenance: From the estate of Moshe Lazar, professor of Drama and Comparative Literature, UCLA; founder and Dean of School of Visual and Performing Arts, Tel Aviv University; Andrew W. Mellon Professor of Hunanities, U.S.C. with many honorary degrees and awards. He was a personal friend of Marc Chagall and Samuel Beckett and served as a translator for their literary works. - Note: The exotic decoration on the air inlet suggests this vessel may have been used in fertility rites. The design of a rounded bottom which prevents the vessel from sitting straight upright may be a special feature related to its functions in a ritual.
