    "The Twelve Tribes Of Israel"

    13 drypoints with pochoir coloring, title, text in Hebrew and French, justification, on Arches, , 1970, each signed by the artist in pencil, the justification also signed by the artist in pencil , numbered 160/195 (there were 195 on Arches and 195 on Rives BFK, plus XXXV on Rives BFK with a suite on Japon), As published by Trans World Art, 1973, New York and printed by Ateliers Rigal, Paris, France

  • Condition:Generally in very good condition, each print unframed together with the original paper wrappers, moiré silk and parchment-covered boards for the case. The portfolio boards in fair condition.

  • Note: Issued in a portfolio entitled “Twelve Tribes of Israel”. With an introduction by Aba Eban (The then Israeli Foreign Secretary) and a complete text in French and Hebrew with 13 engravings (12 individual tribes plus a frontispiece showing an illustration of each tribe) . The portfolio was published to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the State of Israel. The individual titles were:1) Simon (Simeon), Reubin(Ruben),Judah (Juda), Asher (Aser), Issachar (Isacar), Dan, Gad, Zebulun (Zabulon),Naphtali (Naphtali), Joseph, Benjamin, Levi (Levy) plus the etched frontispiece with symbols of all 12 Tribes.
