  • Condition:In generally good condition, the sheet with some edge damage, the paper only slightly toned from age, not examined out of the frame.
  • Size: 16 1/2 by 11 1/2 in. (42 x 29 cm.) sight
  • Provenance: From the collection of Lydia Pasternak Slater as noted verso.From the estate of Brighton based artist Nancy Banks, UA MFPS. Works by her, primarily sculpture, are found in the Royal collections as well as over 50 prominent private collections worldwide. She was a student and later a teacher at the Royal Academy.
  • Framing: Sold framed
  • Note:Work is titled and labeled verso, also a clipping of the obituary of Lydia Pasternak Slater.The sister of Boris Pasternak and the daughter of the painter Leonid, she followed her parents to the west after the revolution and spent most of her life as a translator and promoter of her father's reputation and the civilization that spawned both Leonid and Boris. She died in 1989. As noted verso the work was part of Lydia's collection and probably owned by her during her lifetime, as Mrs. Banks bought a number of works in the late seventies through late eighties.
