Options Available for Catalog Format
1. Colors: You can choose background color, text color, visited and new
link colors.
2. Logos: Within reason, Logos in the form of gif's can be posted on each page. Elaborate digital files load slowly and are usually best left to a home page.
3. Standard information: On each page of your catalog you can specifiy the standard information that will load with each catalog page description (i.e. business name, address, phone numbers, hours, motto, etc.) You can also specify information about framing, shipping options etc. if you don't prefer to post such information in a separate page linked to your home page.
4. Index options: As you probably have noticed, a catalog can be indexed in several ways. You can select from several formats:
a. Frame with list of artists on left and entries on right. Loads fast and finds works of interest fast.(click for example). Single artist sites may choose to list in the left frame styles and/or subject classifications such as landscapes, still lifes, nudes, florals, etc. with the link to all the works that fall into that classification on the right.
b. Table of cells with thumbnails in each cell. Slower loading but a method of providing a visual scan through the offerings.(click for example)
We prefer using both "a" & "b" above.
5. Photos: You can post one or more photos for each catalog entry. Our technique is to post thumbnails to the left of the text entry. Any posted thumbnail can be blown up by clicking (including thumbnails in the indexes). More than one photo per entry is advised if there are are multiple items such as in a set or where you may want to call attention to a condition issue with a closeup photo or for any other reason. Photos should be added judiciously as they slow load times. The photo guide provides more information about ways to add photos to effectively illustrate your site's works.
6. Interactive button: The "yes I am interested" button found at each catalog page description allows your viewer to instantly contact you directly via e-mail about that work. You can specify the information that appears in conjunction with that link button so as to discourage idle curiosity or students looking for information for a school paper. See our example in any of the sample catalog descriptions for typical wording designed to encourage serious clients to contact you. Additionally you can specify the contact information desired in the fill out section.
