    "Two Clouds Raining Seven Colors" From "Midori No Namida"

    woodcut in approximately 25 colors with gold and silver metal imprints, on Japon paper, with ink drawing bottom center, 1972-1976, signed in ink by the artist, annotated 1976, dated and numbered 48/200 (edition complemented with 6 proofs), each also inscribed with the work numbers, total edition 206, Published by Gruener Janura AG, Glarus, Switzerland. Blocks cut by Kenji Okura Hiroshi and printed by Matashiro Uchikawa Surishi, Tokyo with the stamps and signatures of the printers and publishers.

  • Condition:In gen early very good condition, the metallic imprints unwrinkled, the top of the sheet with some waviness. With the printer's registration notches at the margins. Hinge mounted in conservation matting.
  • Sheet: 17 by 22 in. (34 x 56 cm.)
  • Plate: 11 1/2 by 20 in. (29 x 50.5 cm.)
  • References: Recorded and illustrated in the standard text on the authentic graphics of the artist by Koschatzky, No. 60.
  • Framing: Sold unframed
  • Note: Several of the images from the portfolio "Midori No Namida" were apparently remarqued with small ink doodles bottom center at the time of signing as indicated by the date annotated next to the signature. The original date of creation is recorded at 1972.
